I Didn't Discover Alien Bases in This Book
By Johns
This book suffers the same failings as George Leonard's Somebody Else Is on the Moon. The photos by and large don't show anything out of the ordinary. However, there were a few exceptions: Plate 82, showing material pouring from one crater to another; Plate 116 showing a double ringed crater in Humboldt Crater; Plate 128 - a square crater; Plate 131 - two apparent pyramid constructions; Plate 133 - two shapes that look like a square block and a cylinder. Overall, the photos are of slightly more interest than those in Leonard's book, but only slightly. It is pushing it to say suggest that they show alien bases.
If the photos in Steckling's book are better than those in Leonard's , the text is far worse. The author evidently was a fan of author/lecturer/mystic George Adamski. Several photos in the book are of alleged UFOs taken by Adamski, plus there are stills from the Rodeffer-Adamski UFO film. These photos look 100% to me like close up photos of a crude toy model. Another photo, which looks to me very much like a close up of a toy model UFO with a toy spaceman planted next to it is also included: it's the one taken by Gianpero Monguzzi in 1952, supposedly depicting a landed UFO high in the Italian Alps. Steckling claims that some of the best UFO photos were taken by Adamski between 1950 and 1955.
In one paragraph, Steckling reveals what he considers to be the nature of the moon's inhabitants: "I discovered another huge marking or symbol which seemed to lean against the crater wall of a small crater west of the crater Proctus, between the Sea of Crises and the Sea of Tranquility. This extremely large high rise symbol looks very much like the swastika used on Earth, denoting unity which all early civilizations recognized. While this symbol was also misused during World War II, the early civilizations, however, from whom the symbol was borrowed, greatly revered the swastika symbol which joins all men and all things in unity. One can safely say that those men who placed this gigantic symbol on the Moon [sic] were thoroughly conversant with its meaning." Firstly, the photo of the swastika on the moon doesn't appear in this book. Secondly, Steckling doesn't reveal any secret information he has that allows him to "safely say" that those who placed the symbol on the moon knew what it meant. Thirdly, Steckling doesn't provide any evidence that all early civilizations lived in unity. Fourthly, Steckling provides no evidence that the swastika has any properties to join all men (what about the women and children?) and all things in unity. Fifthly, if Steckling had utilised the services of an editor his writing might have been a bit less tortuous to read on occasion.
Towards the end of the book he mentions Alternative 3, which he seemed to approve of: "Alternative 3 was written by three well-known British TV reporters, which [sic] produced a TV program with that same title, shown by the BBC TV network in 1977, with the book following in 1979." Firstly, it was not written by three TV reporters. In the UK it has been released on DVD and this features a discussion between presenter, writer and producer. Secondly, it was shown on the commercial channel ITV, not the BBC. Steckling claims that according to an unnamed retired physicist, "the book Alternative 3 contained a vast amount of truth."
Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised at the book's failings. For a book that boasts the sensational title, "We Discovered Alien Bases on the Moon," the front cover photo is decidedly less than sensational.

Something on the Moon
By B. Ernest
The photos were lacking in definition but the narrative was fascinating. I had heard of the "dark side of the moon" but didn't realize it wasn't perpetual darkness and that the moon has sunlight on its entire surface as it experiences days and nights similar to our planet.

Think about it people, what caused Buzz Aldrin to ...
By Maine rose
Think about it people , what caused Buzz Aldrin to suffer a major breakdown? Why did Neil Armstrong promptly resign from NASA and lead a quiet professorial life? Because they saw something that shocked and scared the hell out of them. Why haven't we exploited the Moon's resources as envisioned in the 1940's and 50s? Because someone or something else has already claimed the territory. I was assigned to the Air Force's Project Blue Book in the early 1970's, I promise you, the skies are VERY crowded.
