I bought this book following a friend's recommendation. it was what I expected and more. I now feel confident about breast feeding and it cleared many doubts that I had.

Carlos Gonzalez has a wonderful approach to "baby matters", empowering women to follow their hearts and instincts and trust their gut.

A must-have resource for new breastfeeding mothers.

If you are committed to breastfeeding, keep a copy of this book on hand. It's supportive, and tells you the science of how your breasts work so you can make choices that make sense for you and your baby to keep your milk supply up, instead of focusing on anecdotal tales you find on the internet. Stop reading the internet for your breastfeeding woes and read this book instead, at least first! I wish I'd read it before my baby arrived to better deal with those first few months, but even when I got a copy of it several months in I found it helpful!

About the Author
Donna E. Palladino Schultheiss, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. She is currently codirector of training for the counseling psychology specialization in the urban education doctoral program at Cleveland State, where she teaches in both the doctoral and master's programs. She serves as chair elect of the Society for Vocational Psychology, a section of the American Psychological Association Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) , and is past chair of the Research Committee for the National Career Development Association. She also currently serves as the U.S. national liason for the International Association of Applied Psychologists Division 16 (Counseling Psychology). In 2006, she received an award for the most outstanding research contribution to Career Development Quarterly. Dr. Schultheiss has written several book chapters and numerous articles in a number of journals, including Journal of Counseling Psychology, The Counseling Psychologist, Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Career Development Quarterly, Journal of Career Development, and Journal of Career Assessment. She also has published in several international journals, including International Journal of Educational and Vocational Guidance, L'Orientation Scolaire et Professionnelle, Giornale Italiano di Psicologia dell'Orientamento, South African Journal of Psychology, and Journal of Psychology in Africa. She serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Counseling Psychology and Journal of Vocational Behavior.

I ordered this book to see if the field of psychology was where I wanted to point my major, helped me realize that none of the paths this degree offers is for me. I would not have known that if I didn't order this book, which I am sooo glad I did.

This book gives a thorough overview of nearly everything having to do with being a psychology major. It shows students what they can do with their major, whether or not it may be right for them, and what sort of things they should expect as such. I'd recommend it to anyone who is considering the major. :D

Not much help

I read the whole book and it did not give many areas I could get a job with a bachelor's degree in psychology. I found more career fields by researching on google. A website that it gave me that was supposed to help determine if psychology is right for me by taking a quiz was about if I am sure I am comfortable in my current major and how comfortable I would be on whether I kept my major or changed it. I am going to career services at my school to get more help determining where I want to be.

This book is of medium difficulty in the range of biochem texts out there. It's convoluted, hard to read, and it probably has the worst index definition of the wobble hypothesis that you could find. You read it, then you go, "What the hell..." Don't get me started on the kinetics chapter. I've read the book from the beginning to the end and I thought I'm better off reading about glycolysis and citric acid cycle in my old campbell biology text. I'm shelving this as the worst text in my learning career. I'll post an update if I ever find anything that is worse than this.

This is a particularly poor text. First, there are numerous errors throughout (in the writing and figures). Further, many of the examples used to demonstrate concrete applications of the concepts are poorly chosen and/or often presume a much deeper knowledge of biochemistry than is appropriate at that point in the text where presented. The associated Student Study Guide/Solutions Manual is also riddled with errors -- this is not unusual for study guides but it compounds the problems in the primary text. I have yet to find an appropriate text for a one semester biochemistry course.

Terrible Textbook

I don't have any Biochemistry textbooks to compare this to, but I have taken many classes over the last 20+ years, and this is by far one of the worst textbooks I ever remember having. It is very wordy, and the concepts are not explained in a manner where I can understand them clearly or apply them in any practical manner.

I'm pretty mixed on this book. Some of the chapters are very clear, concise and helpful. Others kind of leave you scratching your head. Were there multiple authors?

Better than many of the other textbooks that tackle the subject

I've read a few epidemiology textbooks and this one has been the most accessible of the bunch - although including formulas and their explanations there is plenty of content that isn't focused on formula digestion. It also presented observational studies, and case-control study designs in particular, in a more contemporary and balanced light without the disdain that is easily recognized in other texts. As a textbook or access point for interested readers I think it serves quite well.

Good quality but not neccessary

Quite good. However in P359, the standard for choosing which result to present is incorrect. And the most important thing is that it's too expensive for me. Moreover, such kinds of books really don't help at all and it is shallow and so easy to understand. If you are taking similar lecture, I don't recommand you buy this book because it's not neccessary.

The Essential Bibliography

Given the industry of Hitchcock film criticism, this standard reference work is inevitably outdated from the moment of its publication and subsequent editions. Nevertheless, for older articles, essay, and books it is indispensable. Sloan includes very full synopses, with only few factual errors, of every film, from the most obscure to the most famous. Highly recommended--all the more if you can secure a high quality, secondhand edition.
