You need to get this book!

I just finished reading NOT IN MY HOUSE! by Pastor Andre Butler. It didn't take me long to complete this book. This book shares strategies to help you get out of debt God's way. If you are not a tither, you might want to start. In today's economy, you especially need something bigger than yourself. This book gives you a game plan for getting out of debt. It also brings to light how we have been sold a bill of goods when it comes to debt. Debt is not God's best and we need to stop acting like it is. A lot of people are saving up to pay for cars in cash to avoid all of the interest charges. I stopped buying furniture on credit years ago because it was just a ripoff. The book also talks about getting a 15 year mortgage as opposed to a 30 year mortgage. I am amazed at everytime I get a statement how I am literally still paying interest and will likely continue to pay interest for another 10 to 15 years on a 30 year mortgage loan unless something drastically changes. I plan to pay my car note off this year and after that I want to buy cars in cash.

It is time to stop giving our money away and take back the things that God's wants us to have. NOT IN MY HOUSE! shows you how to recession proof your home. You need to get this book and buy it for others as well.

This book is inspiring! Not only does Andre Butler provide a glimmer of hope during these uncertain economic times, but he also gives practical tactics for survival! Butler first pinpoints the reader at where he or she may be financially, and then takes the reader step by step to bring them from being recession-threatened to recession-proof! The 28-Day Challenge that goes along with the book is such a help to put these action steps into practice, but it is easy enough that you can do it consistently. About the Author

Marvin Bittinger has been teaching math at the university level for more than thirty-eight years. Since 1968, he has been employed�at Indiana University Purdue University�Indianapolis, and is now professor emeritus of mathematics education. Professor Bittinger has authored�over 190 publications on topics ranging from basic mathematics to algebra and trigonometry to applied calculus. He received his BA in mathematics from Manchester College and his PhD in mathematics education from Purdue University. Special honors include Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy and his election to the Manchester College Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1999. Professor Bittinger has also had the privilege of speaking at many mathematics conventions, most recently�giving a lecture entitled "Baseball and Mathematics." His hobbies include hiking in Utah, baseball, golf, and bowling. In addition, he also has an interest in philosophy and theology, in particular, apologetics. Professor Bittinger currently lives in Carmel, Indiana, with his wife Elaine. He has two grown and married sons, Lowell and Chris, and four granddaughters.

Judy Beecher has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Indiana University and a graduate degree in mathematics from Purdue University. She has taught at both the high school and college levels with many years of developmental math and precalculus teaching experience at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. In addition to her career in textbook publishing, she spends time traveling, enjoying her grandchildren, and promoting charity projects for a children's camp.

Barbara Johnson has a BS in mathematics from Bob Jones University and a MS in math from Clemson University. She has taught high school and college math for 30 �years, and enjoys the challenge of helping each student grow in appreciation for and understanding of mathematics. As a Purdue Master Gardener, she also enjoys helping others learn gardening skills.�Believing that the best teacher is always learning, she recently earned a black belt in karate.

In Time in Roman Religion, author Gary Forsythe examines both the religious history of the Republic and the religious history of the Empire. These six studies are unified by the important role played by various concepts of time in Roman religious thought and practice. Previous modern studies of early Roman religion in Republican times have discussed how the placement of religious ceremonies in the calendar was determined by their relevance to agricultural or military patterns of early Roman life, but modern scholars have failed to recognize that many aspects of Roman religious thought and behavior in later times were also preconditioned or even substantially influenced by concepts of time basic to earlier Roman religious history.

This book is not a comprehensive survey of all major aspects of Roman religious history spanning one thousand years. Rather, it is a collection of six studies that are bound together by a single analytical theme: namely, time. Yet, in the process of delving into these six different topics the study surveys a large portion of Roman religious history in a representative fashion, from earliest times to the end of the ancient world and the triumph of Christianity.

About the Author
S.J. Kincaid originally wanted to be an astronaut, but a dearth of mathematical skills turned her interest to science fiction instead. The Diabolic weaves a dark tale of love, betrayal

The Diabolic weaves a dark tale of love, betrayal, and space-age​ drama to keeps you guessing with every turn of the page! I picked up a chapter sampler from the Barnes & Nobel Teen Fest in June and loved it! I don't think the description of “Red Queen meets The Hunger Games” gives this book justice because The Diabolic was neither of those stories. There may have been small similarities, but nothing that would make me jump to the conclusion the novel was derived from these popular series. If you were worried that The Diabolic was going to be “just another dystopian” it not in the slightest! This YA science fiction hooked me from the very beginning.

I can’t believe this novel is a stand alone! This galactic court S. J. Kincaid has created is a whole world just waiting to be unearthed. The elites live on decaying starships, while the remaining humans live on planets scattered throughout space. I really enjoyed reading about Nemesis as she struggled to keep her abilities hidden while forging new relationships. She is a humanoid and was created to serve a purpose. While doing what she thinks is best for Sidonia’s survival, Nemesis learns that there is more to her life than she could have imagined.

Romance is a prevalent theme as the story progresses. Nemesis meets Tyrus, the deranged nephew of the current Emperor. As Nemesis spends time with him, she begins to have feelings and emotions that she can’t understand. She wasn’t created to have the capacity to love others. I thought S. J. Kincaid did a wonderful job writing the romance. As the reader, you understand the struggle Nemesis is going through. It is because of who she is, we get more reserved yet passionate moments between her and Tyrus. I also liked that we didn’t quite get the full image of who Tyrus really was. He was unpredictable in so many ways. He could be kind and merciful one moment or cunning the next. In my humble opinion, their personalities made Nemesis and Tyrus an amazing couple.

The action, suspense, and serious Twists made The Diabolic one of my favorite books this year! Could it be turned into a series? Absolutely! However, I was beyond happy with the ending. I could read this over and over again with that ending! I totally had some major feels! Maybe a novella of Tyrus and Nemesis in the future?! I wouldn’t mind that! I highly recommend The Diabolic for a thrilling science fiction romance that won't disappoint!

3.5, rounded up...a tough book to review

I finished reading this book last week. It is a super fast read, one of those stories that sweeps you up from its first pages. I've delayed writing a review because it left me so torn. I fear as a result, this is the most poorly-written review I've ever delivered. You have my apologies for this.

Still, I shall do my best to do this book justice.

I LOVED the last 15% or so of this story. And I loved the 1st 40% as well. But then I found myself feeling like I was reading a retelling of Cinder. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. The Cinder series has a gigantic fan base, and I'm fairly certain that anyone who loved Cinder will feel similar love for The Diabolic.

With this book, we enter a trans-galactic world with an Emperor ruling over the many planets. There is discord amongst the masses, mostly a division between those who believe science should be explored and those who think it best left alone. A sort of AI is created and sold to the wealthy to serve as dedicated guards. These are the diabolics. We get to know one in particular very well, as she is bought to serve as the protector of an unpopular Senator's daughter. And this is where the plot really takes off.

I guess my issues with this book, other than its numerous similarities to Cinder, lie with some of the twists and turns built into the plotline. I wish the author had skipped some of these, the ones that didn't fit, demanded too much suspension of disbelief from the readers, were simply too contrived.

Overall, however, it's a solid story. It flies by. The world and its politics are portrayed nicely. We do identify with, and feel for the characters. And seriously, the last part of the book did redeem itself, in my eyes. I never considered not finishing the book. I am a little curious whether other readers also found any parallels between this and Cinder, however.

Please don't let this disorganized jumble of thoughts that is my review detract you from at least reading the sample, if you've been thinking about reading this book. I don't regret having read it. Not one bit. It has some cool original ideas, betrayals one doesn't see coming, all that kind of good stuff. I recommend it as a perfect relaxing fast read.

A good science fiction read

S.J Kincaid's second novel "The Diabolic" is a science fiction novel that tells the story of Nemesis, the diabolic, who is a creature created to protect a single person, and that person is Sedonia. Nemesis is engineered to be loyal to Sedonia, and protect her at all costs, even if that entails self-sacrifice. I thought this book was a shockingly good read, because I am not usually a big fan of science fiction or dystopian novels. I typically find that most books in these genres are all very much the same and share a lot of the same qualities, but "The Diabolic" was unlike anything I have ever read before. I liked how easily I was able to relate to the characters that Kincaid created, and I thought she really put a lot of detail and thought into the development of all of them. This book took me a lot longer to read than I had originally anticipated, for I had to read many sections of this book at least twice in order to properly absorb the information I was reading. I thought that the plot was a bit underdeveloped, and at times I felt that Kincaid rushed a lot of details together, especially towards the middle of the novel, almost as if she was playing catch up for how slow the beginning of this novel was. Some parts of this novel were rather unclear and hard to follow, and I think I would do well to read it a second time in order to fully process all of the details, for the plot is quite complex.

I enjoyed the fact that Nemesis ended being such a dynamic and round character, for it was something that I was not expecting to happen at all. I was not thrilled that there were romantic undertones to this novel, even though a full blown romance was never fully developed, but I thought that even the idea of a possible romance seemed to take away from the relationship that Nemesis had with Sedonia. I was also particularly disturbed by a scene involving an animal, but I actually thought the harshness of this scene helped to further the plot and keep me engaged. I gave this book a three star rating because I really liked the revolutionary concept of this novel, but I definitely had some issues following the plot line. I felt that Kincaid could be unnecessarily wordy at times, but I felt the fact that this novel is so character driven that it helped to enhance the plot and overall made it a good read. I would highly recommend this book to any young adult reader who loves a good science fiction novel.
